"Yesterday we had 200 visits to the emergency room CardarelliWe do our best, but sometimes we come up against timing that isn't always effective, because there's a staff shortage, which is a chronic problem not only in Campania but throughout Italy, and it has repercussions."

Antonio D'Amore, general director of the Cardarelli Hospital in Naples, commented on the emergency room's problems during the visit of the Archbishop of Naples, Domenico Battaglia, for a blessing of the newly opened spaces. "Reviewing the emergency room's pathways," D'Amore said, commenting on the new spaces that opened a few days ago, "is one of the first changes we felt needed to make to care. We opened new spaces only for triage and pre-triage, but we are now moving on to modernizing other pathways and facilities, for care but also for the comfort and dignity of the patient, to whom we strive to address any shortcomings."

D'Amore also emphasized some new features for the Cardarelli, such as the screens that indicate how many people are receiving treatment for each level of emergency: "It's important," he said, "to provide arrivals and relatives with a headcount of the number of people inside. In addition to the new triage and pre-triage, we've also set up a room for relatives of emergency room patients, with video panels inside that indicate who is receiving treatment."
