Over 1,8 million counterfeit and unsafe items were seized by the Finance Police of the Provincial Command of Naples, in the city and on the territory, during checks aimed at repressing the phenomenon, especially in view of the closing of the Carnival festivities.
Following 92 interventions, 38 were reported to the local Chamber of Commerce for administrative violations while 16 were reported to the competent Judicial Authorities, in various capacities, for the crimes of commercial fraud and counterfeiting. Over 1,8 million products were seized.
Among others, the soldiers of the Nola Group, inside a commercial activity managed by a Chinese citizen, have ascertained the sale of over 1.300.000 goods, including carnival items and beauty accessories, lacking the essential requirements required by the legislation relating to product safety. The person responsible for the activity has been reported to the Chamber of Commerce.
The financiers of the Compagnia di Ottaviano, at a sole proprietorship in San Giuseppe Vesuviano, have seized a total of approximately 107.000 unsafe and counterfeit products, including carnival items and accessories lacking the minimum safety indications or bearing the undue affixing of the CE marking. The owner and an employee of the company, both of Chinese origin, in addition to being administratively reported, have been reported to the competent AG for commercial fraud.
Between Casoria, Arzano and Caivano, the Fiamme Gialle of the Frattamaggiore Group checked 3 commercial establishments managed by citizens of Chinese origin who were displaying for sale products that did not comply with safety standards.
Over 220.000 products were seized, including unsafe carnival accessories and gadgets; the business owners were reported to the local Chamber of Commerce.
Between Sorrento, Castellammare, Torre del Greco, Portici and the islands of Capri and Ischia, a further 110.000 items were seized, including Carnival clothes and accessories, bearing counterfeit brands or lacking the minimum information required by the Consumer Code.
All the operations are part of a broader provincial plan of activities carried out by the Guardia di Finanza of Naples aimed at combating economic and financial crimes connected to the trade of unsafe and/or counterfeit products and pursues a dual objective: safeguarding the legal economy and honest entrepreneurs, alongside the essential need to protect the health and safety of consumers.
