The historic center of Naples continues to be dotted with micro landfills despite the constant flow of tourists who have to witness a real massacre.
An alarming situation is in via Foria, as reported by residents to the deputy of the Green-Left alliance Francesco Emilio Borrelli. Right outside the Istituto Tecnico Statale Della Porta – Porzio a mountain of waste spilled and deposited on the sidewalk creates an indecent spectacle.
“We have asked Asia for an urgent cleanup intervention to remedy this disaster,” Borrelli declared . “However, the situation is much more worrying than what the individual cases reported to us indicate.
From the center to the outskirts there is a continuous accumulation of open-air landfills that, in addition to being a cause of degradation, are also, often, ecological bombs.
We therefore need to better plan waste collection and cleaning operations, but above all we need to fight illegal waste dumping more clearly and decisively. We need more video surveillance and more severe penalties for polluters and uncivilized people”.
