An arson attack in a document storage facility destroyed hundreds of folders in a building in the Municipality of Naples at Maschio Angioino.
The flames broke out at 2am and it took firefighters over two hours to put out the flames.
The Municipality has announced that the flames were of a malicious nature, without providing details on the origin of the fire since "investigations are underway". The warehouse, in the Torre dell'Oro, contained documents that were partially damaged by the flames; the fire did not involve the main areas of the symbolic monument of Naples, such as the Pinacoteca and the Sala della Loggia.

The area concerned, to the side of the public entrance, has been placed under sequestration. The police are conducting investigations to identify the perpetrators of the act. In the morning, to verify the damage to the structure, the Councilor for Tourism Teresa Armato and the coordinator of cultural policies Sergio Locoratolo went for an inspection.
Mayor Gaetano Manfredi is constantly updated on the matter. Tomorrow morning the civic museum of Castel Nuovo will remain regularly open to the public.
While this fire was being put out, another small fire broke out in a waste bin in the nearby gardens of the Royal Palace, which was quickly put out. Checks are underway to determine whether the two incidents are connected.
