Smcv Court adjourns to the 28th. Treasurer Verini also in the courtroom.
The hearing on the appeal filed by over 28 Caserta Democratic Party members—including mayors, city councilors, and longtime activists—who were barred from membership by the Party's Provincial Guarantee Commission due to alleged irregularities in the payment methods for membership fees, was held at the Civil Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere (Caserta) and has been postponed until February 200.
The Democratic Party's national treasurer, Senator Valter Verini, also spoke at the hearing, supporting the Provincial Commission's decision. The case before the First Civil Section of the court concerns the more than 200 excluded members, but the Commission had "cut" 3800 memberships, and Verini's presence supports the entire approach of the Commission, chaired by Francesco Gatto, which had decided to cut memberships based on the recommendations made at the national level.
Last week, based on the appeal, the president of the first section of the Civil Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere issued an emergency order suspending voting for the Democratic Party congress, which was due to be held on Sunday, February 19th, in the party clubs.
On February 26, the vote in the gazebos, which will also involve non-members and from which the name of the new secretary of the Democratic Party will emerge between the two candidates Stefano Bonaccini and Elly Schlein, should not be at risk.
The hearing was postponed for a few days to verify whether the appellants had withdrawn their appeal.
