Relations with the Casalesi family: Record confiscation for former regional councilor and entrepreneur Nicola Ferraro, a former Udeur member.
The emoluments and allowances received (relating to the entire period of the council) and the accruing council life pension were also seized.
The State Police and the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Caserta, in execution of a specific decree of the Prevention Measures Section of the Court of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, issued on the proposal of the Police Chief of Caserta, have definitively confiscated, in Campania and Lazio, assets, company shares, financial and banking relationships, as well as indemnities and sums deriving from the council pension for a value equal to approximately 2,5 million euros, attributable to a former Councilor of the Campania Region, formerly active in the waste business sector, convicted by the Court of Appeal of Naples for external association with a mafia organization, with a final judgment.
The former politician involved is Nicola Ferraro, a former member of the Udeur, before the judicial scandals.

Today's definitive confiscation order represents the epilogue of a complex and detailed investigation carried out by the Anti-Crime Police Division of the Caserta Police Headquarters and the Economic-Financial Police Unit of the Guardia di Finanza of Caserta, which has allowed the reconstruction of the patrimonial and financial assets available - directly and indirectly (including through his family members) - to the former politician, acquired with the proceeds deriving from illicit activities, committed over time, in the exercise of his entrepreneurial activity.
The defendant, recognized by the Criminal Judge as an entrepreneur and politician in collusion with the leaders of the Casalesi Clan - Schiavone and Bidognetti Factions, at least since 2000 onwards and in any case even before his election to the Regional Council of the Campania Region (which took place in 2005), has subjugated both his entrepreneurial activity in the waste sector and his political activity to the needs of the Camorra, receiving in exchange decisive support for his own entrepreneurial affirmation and decisive electoral support.
The investigations of the judicial police have confirmed the statements of multiple collaborators of justice, allowing to ascertain that the entrepreneur and former Councilor has provided his continuous availability to act as an intermediary between the administrators of the local authorities and the criminal organizations of reference, to drain in favor of the latter public contracts and contributions, managing to almost monopolize the profitable economic sector of waste collection and disposal, even beyond the borders of the Caserta territory, determining in fact its social dangerousness.
In order to reveal the origin of the significant assets of the proposed and his cohabitants, copious documentation was acquired, with reference to the last twenty years, including the contracts of sale of assets and company shares as well as numerous other public deeds that have affected the entire family unit over time, then verifying, for each 2 transaction, the related financial movements underlying the creation of the necessary economic provision.
Subsequent investigations have made it possible to ascertain how a large part of the activities and assets that became available to the proposed person and his closest relatives had actually been acquired with the profits obtained thanks to the close proximity to the Casalesi clan.
Thus, 7 buildings located in the municipalities of Caserta (CE), Casal di Principe (CE), Arienzo (CE), Gaeta (LT) and Formia (LT) were confiscated – which has become definitive – as well as company shares attributable to 2 companies active in the real estate sector and in the field of integrated engineering, 1 car and 1 motorcycle, the emoluments and allowances received (relating to the entire period of the council), for a value equal to Euro 834.226,46, and the councilor's life pension maturing (for the period after reaching the age of sixtieth, to be quantified) within the Campania Region, for a total value of approximately 2,5 million euros.
