Work has begun on the eastern side of the Royal Park of the Reggia di Caserta overlooking Corso Giannone.
The interventions planned within the scope of the project “Restoration and enhancement of the Park of the Royal Palace of Caserta” will begin within a few days. The project is financed with funds from the 2007-2013 programming period, relating to resources from the Pon Cultural, Natural and Tourism Attractions FESR 2007/2013 for an amount equal to 998.425,98 euros.
The area bordering the city center is hoped to be transformed into a "border of opportunity", an area of proximity, contiguity and connection between the Green Museum and the city of Caserta to share the common goal of beauty. In detail, the works include two different lines of activity: the enhancement of the plant component and the restoration of the architectural component relating to the gate and the walls, with the relocation of the access to the Royal Park to Piazzetta S. Antonio.
The redevelopment will concern the entire eastern strip (half a hectare of woodland) of the Green Museum and, in ensuring the improvement of the static conditions, the wall, the fence, the gates and the pillars.
The intervention will also concern the two access wings from the clearing in front of the church with an integrated reception and communication system and with the creation of a new structure for an adequate control area for the flow of visitors and the subsequent placement of an automated ticket distribution point.
The intervention on the plant component along Corso Giannone, in addition to the works on the trees, includes the recovery of the pre-existing flowerbed and the creation of a new seasonal flowering strip along the border as a gradual approach to the wonder of the Park.
Access to the Green Museum of the Royal Palace of Caserta, also taking advantage of the "embrace" of the semi-circular shape of Piazzetta S. Antonio, will thus be in all respects a place of welcome and interconnection between the Royal Palace of Caserta, a Museum of undoubted international value, and the city.
