Naples, direct trial for the migrant who stabbed the rider

The migrant who yesterday evening stabbed and attacked for no apparent reason a delivery man who was on the pavement in front of the McDonald's in Piazza Garibaldi in Milan will be tried with a direct trial. Napoli waiting for the next delivery.

For reasons still unknown, the attacker attempted to stab the rider in the back, and only thanks to the presence of the thermal backpack was the blade deflected and did not injure the unfortunate man.

The patrols of the Central and San Lorenzo Investigative Operations Units of the municipal police, who patrol the square daily in the evening hours, were immediately alerted and managed to stop the individual who, in his attempt to escape, dropped the knife he was using.

The knife, with a blade approximately 20 cm long, was recovered and seized. The non-EU citizen resisted arrest, attacking the officers and slightly injuring four of them.

In the early hours of the morning, the Forensic Police personnel collected fingerprints in order to identify the man and trace any previous police records.

Mayor Gaetano Manfredi and Councilor for Legal Affairs Antonio De Iesu expressed solidarity with the Naples Municipal Police officers injured last night in Piazza Garibaldi.

"We are grateful to these officers who, like all the men and women of the local police force, are always present in the area and, with effective work and a great sense of responsibility, face countless challenges every day to ensure adequate urban safety," declared Manfredi and De Iesu.

"We stand with the officers who conducted this brilliant operation and managed to prevent the young rider from being attacked for no reason from the worst," they added.
