On Monday morning, a woman showed up at the Dante Police Station to report that two cars had been stolen from her garage on Via Mario Costa during the night, also reporting that other people had also been robbed in adjacent garages.
In the afternoon of the same day, the Falcons of the Dante Police Station, thanks to the descriptions provided by the victim and the images from the city's video surveillance, intercepted one of the two stolen cars in Via Miano whose driver, at the sight of them, accelerated despite having been ordered to stop.
A long chase ensued during which the driver performed maneuvers that were dangerous for road traffic until, near Corso Secondigliano, he took the wrong road and attempted to run over a patrol officer from the Scampia Police Station who had arrived to provide support.
The man continued his escape on Via Roma towards Scampia where he crashed into the patrol car of the Secondigliano Police Station and then abandoned the car, attempting to escape on foot; the police caught up with him and, after a fight, stopped him.
Shortly after, a man showed up at the police station and reported that during the night he had surprised two people stealing groceries from his garage, also on Via Costa; in particular, he said that the two, after placing the stolen goods in a car, which later turned out to be the one stolen from the woman, had physically attacked him and then fled.
Furthermore, the same person, after having viewed a photo album depicting the effigies of some subjects, noticed a correspondence with the features of one of the perpetrators of the robbery of the man stopped by the officers shortly before.
A 40-year-old Neapolitan with a criminal record was arrested by the PG for robbery in competition which was validated this morning by the Judicial Authority and reported for personal injury, resisting a Public Official and aggravated damage.
