“It is with great bitterness and regret that we inform the citizens of Salerno of the theft, perpetrated by unknown persons, during the past night, of the cardiac defibrillator installed at the headquarters of the Automobile Club of Salerno in Corso Garibaldi”.
This is what Dino Cerbarano, president of the non-profit organization 'A casa di Andrea', states in a note. Together with other partners, he worked to install the life-saving device in front of the Aci headquarters. The area was also chosen in consideration of the deaths that occurred at the beginning of December in the streets of the center of Salerno when two people lost their lives due to a sudden illness.
“This despicable and inexplicable gesture deprives the citizens of a precious life-saving device installed in the center of the city thanks to the civic sense of those who put solidarity as the primary value of their activities, mortifies this civic sense and the desire for social and cultural growth of an entire community – continued Cerbarano – Moreover, it is known that such cardiac protection devices have no illicit marketing market, therefore such theft should be considered exclusively as a reckless act of vulgar ignorance and mental degradation”.
The association, which will file a complaint this afternoon, has already announced that it intends to reinstall the defibrillator.
