"Nino Taranto? A forgotten giant."Stefano Taranto, great-nephew of Nino, a sacred monster of the entertainment world who made sparks fly alongside Totò, lets a hint of emotion shine through when asked to remember his great-uncle.
Like his more famous relative, Stefano, 38, has inherited the art of acting. It's in his blood, and last Sunday he proved it: he starred in an episode of the drama "Stay with Me," airing on RaiUno.
"I'm proud of it - He says - It was a huge success, and all the other episodes will be. We got over 21% of the audience share, which means we almost reached 4 million viewers.".
In that episode, Stefano showcased his acting skills: he played a dockworker suspected of involvement in the murder of a police officer. Like his famous great-uncle, he had already appeared on stage in theater and learned his trade there. But he admits to a weakness for television. In 2015, he graduated from the Ribalta acting academy, a renowned Neapolitan school. Then, he went through numerous auditions, during which almost no one would associate his weighty surname with that of Nino.

"Only on one occasion, in Rome - remembers Stefano Taranto - The casting director asked me if I was related to Nino. I fear, but I hope I'm wrong, that the younger generations don't even know who my great-uncle was. Naples, which makes decisions, sometimes tends to forget its excellent sons..

Indeed, he works as a teacher at a school in Campi Flegrei, where he shares his passion with aspiring actors.
