At the Trianon Viviani, Sunday 12 February, at 18 pm, the new appointment in the cycle of sung conferences by Mauro Gioia.
Among archival materials, rare recordings that come back to life thanks to live listening to historic 78s and iconic songs, the lecturer-singer, born Maurizio Dittura, has embarked on a musical journey of analysis of the song and its protagonists starting from a focus on Naples and its production.
The theme of this second episode is "Alpha singers: the Neapolitan song between guilt, feminicide and mammismo".
Between the two wars it was common to hear Neapolitan songs in which a man begs a judge to release him because he considers it right to have killed his woman; or another confess "I scarred her but I still love her". And next to the violence there is the mad love for the mother. The reality sung in those years is, unfortunately, still in the news every day and tells the story of the construction of toxic masculinity.
The evening is divided into two parts: a first dedicated to the "alpha" male and the song, curated by Antonio Pascale, and a second to the toxic male and the song, written by Giuditta Borelli, to compose a male and a female vision of a dramatic theme, very present in Neapolitan songs, perhaps addressed for the first time.
Mauro Gioia is accompanied by Giuseppe Burgarella (piano), Paolo Sessa (keyboards) and Carlo Fimiani (guitar). The arrangements are by Gigi De Rienzo. The visual by Giovanni Ambrosio. The production is by Giano bifronte.
