In recent days, by order of this Public Prosecutor's Office, the Guardia di Finanza of the Provincial Command of Salerno has executed an emergency preventive seizure order, aimed at confiscation for equivalent, against a Medical Director of the Health District 70 of the local Health Authority, for a total value of over 26 thousand euros.

The investigations, carried out by the Guardia di Finanza of the Compagnia di Vallo della Lucania, were initiated following a tax audit during which it emerged that the professional, since 2021, had entered into an exclusive relationship with the ASL of Salerno, by virtue of which he was obliged to suspend his private activity.

The doctor, by virtue of the exclusive relationship, was therefore authorised to carry out "intramural freelance professional activity" at his office, only for specialist visits booked through the Regional CUP (Single Booking Centre), and the proceeds of which had to be paid directly to the Health Authority.

From the analysis of the documentation, both fiscal and non-fiscal, acquired during the investigations, it emerged that the professional continued to carry out self-employed work, both at private healthcare facilities in the Province of Salerno, and at some offices located outside the Region.

Furthermore, the financial police carried out further investigations, listening to patients and owners of private practices, managing to reconstruct on which days and at which centres the doctor had carried out the visits in a personal capacity.

The service action demonstrates the constant attention of the Judicial Authority and the Guardia di Finanza on the correct use of public funds and is part of the broader framework of activities aimed at ascertaining and repressing crimes against the National Health Service, and more generally to protect the State.
