Anti-usury raid in Sant'Antimo, following an investigative effort led by the Public Prosecutor's Office of North Naples, the Carabinieri of the Sant'Antimo station executed a precautionary custody order issued by the GIP of the Court of North Naples, against eight people (five in prison and three under house arrest).

The defendants are considered to be seriously suspected, to varying degrees, of complicity in usury, extortion and attempted extortion, personal injury, improper use of payment instruments and abusive financial activity.

The investigations, also conducted through telephone interception activities, were started in September 2020, after the complaint filed by some victims of usury and have allowed to document, against the current suspects, a system capable of generating monthly usurious interests
up to 50%.

Any delays in payments, in addition to threats and intimidation, would have generated a further increase in costs, defined by the defendants as "inconvenient".

One of the victims was also allegedly forced to hand over the card on which the citizen's income was paid and the transferred sum was then withdrawn or used by some of the suspects for personal expenses.

Those arrested were held in the Naples -Poggioreale prison or placed under house arrest at their homes, awaiting questioning by the judge.
