The 31-year-old's ordeal began with a backache Aldo Christian Mambro, died on Friday 24 March at the hospital in Caserta where he had arrived on the evening of Tuesday 21.

On his death, the deputy prosecutor of Santa Maria Capua Vetere Nicola Camerlengo has opened a criminal case for the hypothesis of manslaughter, at the moment against unknown persons, and has ordered an autopsy on the body of the 31-year-old, which will be performed on Thursday 30 March with the assignment of the task to the coroner Antonio Palmieri.

The investigation was triggered by the complaint filed by the 31-year-old's parents last Friday afternoon at the Carabinieri station in Rocca d'Evandro, a town in the Caserta area bordering the province of Frosinone where Aldo lived with his father, mother and three brothers; the victim's family then decided to rely on Studio3A-Valore Spa, a company specializing at a national level in compensation for damages and the protection of citizens' rights.

According to the statement in the complaint, Aldo began to suffer from severe back pain on Monday, March 20; suffering from obesity, he was checked often, but the tests were always fine, certifying good health.

On Monday, his father had therefore procured him some medical patches, which however had had no effect on the back pain, and so the following day, Tuesday, his mother had contacted the family doctor, who without examining him had prescribed him some medicines, including injections, anti-inflammatories and analgesics.

However, the situation had not improved, so much so that the thirty-one-year-old could no longer even walk or go to the bathroom. It was he himself, again on Tuesday, who called his trusted doctor who examined him, recommending hospitalization. A 118 vehicle then took him to the hospital in Caserta where he was admitted to the emergency room until the following day, when he was transferred to the Neurology department.

Meanwhile, the CT scan and MRI he underwent did not reveal any particular problems. On Friday morning, shortly before 8, Aldo called home to tell his family that he was feeling much better, that he had managed to go to the bathroom and that he was waiting to undergo another MRI with contrast.

However, he will never take the test, because shortly thereafter, according to what the doctors at the Caserta hospital said, he will have a serious cardiac arrest which will be followed by death. The parents and three brothers of the 31-year-old arrived at the hospital when Aldo was already dead.
