Three hundred grams of hashish and ten grams of cocaine were seized inside some postal packages destined for inmates in the prison of Avellino.
Orlando Scocca, secretary of the Civil Service of the Cgil Campania, reports the news. The discovery was made possible thanks to the canine units of the Avellino Detachment that supported the Penitentiary Police officers.
"The introduction of narcotics into prisons," comments Mirko Manna, national secretary of the CGIL-Polizia Penitenziaria, "is a serious problem for prison security. The Corps needs to be equipped with many more canine units and for checks to become a standard and daily practice."
