He allegedly attempted to tamper with evidence in the proceedings by obstructing the testimony of the prosecution's main witness in the trial against Battipaglia city councilor Francesco Falcone.

Franco Falcone, a namesake and relative of the city councilor, is accused of abuse of office and attempted extortion. He was today served with a precautionary measure issued by the Salerno investigating judge and executed by the finance police of the Salerno provincial command.

The case stems from an investigation into the allocation of off-market parking spaces in the municipality of Battipaglia, during which Falcone, then president of the Battipaglia City Council, was issued a precautionary injunction on June 16, 2022.

The case is the subject of an ongoing trial. The order executed today is based on the allegation that Franco Falcone attempted to obstruct the testimony of Francesco Siani, the accuser and the prosecution's main witness, in the trial against the city councilor.

Falcone is accused of assaulting the victim, specifically beating her with the clear intent of forcing her to desist from testifying, a few days before the preliminary hearing. The hearing against Francesco Falcone was held behind closed doors after Franco Falcone left the courtroom. He had come to the courthouse with the intention, according to investigators, of instilling fear in Siani during his testimony.

Furthermore, Franco Falcone filed a complaint against Siani, presenting a diametrically opposed version of events and declaring that he was the victim of Siani's armed attack. The judge deemed this version untrue, citing a general attempt to influence the proceedings.
