He confessed to having acted in a state of confusion, without realizing that he had killed his supposed "rival" and injured the woman he was in love with.

Giuseppe Molinaro, a 58-year-old Carabiniere serving at a station in the Caserta area, has been in prison in Santa Maria Capua Vetere since last night for murder and attempted murder.

He shot and killed Giovanni Fidaleo, 60, manager of the Nuova Suio hotel in the hamlet of Suio Terme, in the municipality of Castelforte, in the province of Latina, and then wounded Miriam Mignano, 31, from Castelforte, the woman who was allegedly having an affair with both of them. He then fled, but was arrested after a few hours.

The woman was hit by at least two bullets, one in the chest and one in the abdomen. She was rescued and airlifted to Gemelli Hospital in Rome, where she underwent delicate surgery for her serious gunshot wounds. She underwent further tests yesterday evening, and her prognosis remains guarded.

There would be jealousy behind the crazy gesture of carabiniere. The woman who had worked at the Suio Terme hotel was having an affair with both men. The soldier, who was serving at a Carabinieri station in the province of Caserta, headed toward the Caserta area after the incident, stopping at a friend's house in Teano. He told his friend what he had done, contacting the Carabinieri, who picked him up and took him to the local Carabinieri headquarters in Capua, where he was questioned.

The restrictive measure was then ordered by the Public Prosecutor's Office of Santa Maria Capua Vetere (prosecutor Carmine Renzulli), competent for the arrest, since it occurred in the Caserta area, while the Public Prosecutor's Office of Cassino is the one competent for the territory, which will carry out the preliminary investigations. The arrest must be validated within 48 hours by the GIP of the Santa Maria Capua Vetere court.

Molinaro's interrogation at the Capua barracks revealed a motive related to the injured woman. The Carabiniere was apparently having an affair with her, but he believed Fidaleo was also seeing the 40-year-old. And he targeted him.

He then reached the hotel where he was sure he would find the man, and in the parking lot he encountered the 60-year-old manager and the woman. He then began shooting, fatally wounding the hotel manager and also hitting the woman. Ballistic tests will be crucial to determine the exact trajectory of the shots fired.
