Yesterday, the Provincial Command of the Guardia di Finanza of Caserta coordinated a complex operation aimed at combating drug trafficking that led to the seizure of approximately 15 kg of very pure cocaine and the arrest of the courier who was transporting it.
The activity was carried out by the Financiers of the Marcianise Company who, through a complex device set up for this purpose at the Caserta Nord and Caserta Sud motorway toll booths, managed to identify a suspicious vehicle, whose driver, upon being stopped, immediately showed an evident state of agitation which induced the operating military personnel to carry out a more thorough check at the department's headquarters.
In fact, following a careful inspection of the vehicle, a subfloor was discovered, located in the rear trunk and covered by a thick metal plate controlled by a complex electronic mechanism, inside which were hidden 14 blocks of cocaine with a total weight of 14,800 kg.
The courier was also found in possession of a sum of cash equal to 1.025,00 euros, presumably paid to him as compensation for the transport of the drugs.
The person responsible, of Romanian origin, was arrested and, by order of the Judicial Authority of Santa Maria Capua Vetere, transferred to the local prison.
The seized cocaine, once “cut” and placed on the market, could have generated illicit profits of approximately 2 million euros.
The activity of the Guardia di Finanza of Marcianise demonstrates the constant commitment of the Fiamme Gialle in the fight against drug trafficking, with the dual intent of protecting the health of citizens and eradicating one of the main forms of financing of organized crime.
