The statement that appeared on social media last night by the Salernitana Ultras group "Curva Sud Siberiano" is already causing a stir.
The most extreme fringe of Granata fans is essentially "inviting" Napoli fans living in Salerno not to celebrate the Azzurri's Scudetto victory in the city. This statement is meaningless, anti-democratic, and likely to further fuel tensions between the two fan bases, despite many having made efforts to bridge the gap in recent days.
Even united fan groups have formed on social media. But evidently, it's been to no avail: the arrogance and ignorance of those who feel they own other people's football passions has taken over.
Ironically, the current Serie A schedule allows Spalletti's Napoli to mathematically celebrate their Scudetto victory on April 29th at the Maradona stadium against Salernitana. At this point, in light of this press release, it would be the perfect "nemesis."
This is the full text of the anti-democratic statement:
Always "IDENTITY AND TRADITION"
Identity represented by OUR SALERNITANA AND OUR SALERNITANITY which is the expression of everyone, of a city and a province that identify with the dignity it represents.

The very lifeblood of our beloved team has always been the pride that embodies a land. May NO ONE be captivated or captivated by the glitter of other football stages, near or far. In this city and much of the province, only Salernitana exists, but not only on matchday; Ippocampo is alive and breathing in the alleys, on the fields and provincial streets, in the children who play in the maroon jerseys, and in the bars where stories of a football that no longer exists are told.
Salerno is this and must remain this, with RESPECT for those who have helped make it one of the warmest and most envied cities in Italy. IN SALERNO, ONLY SALERNITANA, which represents the TRADITION and HISTORICAL MEMORY OF AN ENTIRE PEOPLE who don't support the big teams but have ALWAYS STAND IN DEFENSE OF THEIR CITY AND IDENTITY! EXACTLY!!!!!
In a few weeks, Italian football will most likely see a team rewrite history and challenge the power of Northern Italy's clubs. Naples is about to live its dream, as it should be, but this isn't ours. It's pointless to hide the fact that there are a small number of "opponent" fans in the city, and this message is addressed precisely to them. Upon reaching this important milestone, RESPECT for the city and all Salernitana fans must reign supreme. This is demonstrated by putting any scarves and blue flags in a drawer, and certainly not on the balconies of SALERNO.
EVERYONE CELEBRATE AT THEIR OWN HOME!!!
As long as we live, we will love only one flag, and it will be the GRANATA. The city of Salerno and its province must be colored exclusively by the color we most honor and love: WE MARK THE TERRITORY!!! Think of it what you will, but for US, feeling part of a reality and standing as staunch defenders of SALERNITANITY, with all that this entails, is of primary, fundamental, and exclusive importance.

Did they even go so far as to say that? Envy, because that's what it is, leads to writing such nonsense instead of being happy about a "clean" triumph and above all of the whole south, not just us Neapolitans. The bitterness remains...
