La Court of Cassation ha rejected il appeal presented by General power of attorney who challenged the acquittal pronounced by the Court of Appeal against the former Undersecretary of Economy Nicola Cosentino and the entrepreneur Gaetano Iorio for the 'investigation “The Prince and the Dancing Card”.

La Fifth Section of Supreme Court he therefore confirmed the acquittal pronounced in the second degree for the former politician and the entrepreneur.
The verdict of the Neapolitan magistrates overturned the first degree verdict, when the former Undersecretary of the Economy was sentenced to 5 and a half years while the entrepreneur was sentenced to Gaetano Iorio the sentence was 9 years in prison.
For the Attorney General, the decision of the Neapolitan court appeared “characterized by a motivation flawed by numerous and evident shortcomings, manifest illogicalities, contradictions and distortions of the evidence”. The reference is in particular to the statements of collaborators of justice, first and foremost Nicholas Schiavone, son of Sandokan.
The appeal judges, in the reasons for the sentence, had harshly criticized the statements of the scion of the Schiavone family, considering them “not found” and denied by the “investigative emergencies”.
Not only Cosentino but also Iorio and Zara acquitted
La General power of attorney but he insists, reiterating how the judges had “deliberately deprived of the possibility of verifying the existence of corroborations in the narrative of other collaborators of justice”.
In the appeal trial the judges had acquitted not only Cosentino and the entrepreneur Iorio but also other defendants, including the bank official Christopher Zara.
