Eduardo De Crescenzo in concert at the Arena Flegrea in Naples

By popular demand, Eduardo De Crescenzo announces an exclusive concert on July 25, 2023 at the Arena Flegrea in Naples as part of the Noisy Naples fest. A single evening of “Essenze Jazz” for this summer to meet the numerous requests of his transgenerational audience, who over the years have followed him in his original evolutions. From the international successes of Ancora, L'odore del mare, E la musica va, to the more intimate and poetic dimension of Sarà così, Il racconto della sera or the syncopated rhythms of Foglia di the, La vita è un'altra, still capable of crossing time and generations.

ESSENZE JAZZ is the concert of his expressive maturity, his exciting musical biography in which he manages to keep together his talent as a singer, performer, accordionist, composer, arranger. A refined concert in which he manages to keep together that pop audience grown up with the human values ​​that Eduardo manages to transmit and that “good mouth” audience aware of his artistic talents.

With him on the stage of the Arena Flegrea, a roster of some of the most appreciated musicians on the contemporary jazz scene: Enzo Pietropaoli on double bass, Marcello Di Leonardo on drums, Julian Oliver Mazzariello on piano, Daniele Scannapieco on saxophone and Susanna Krasznai on cello, joined for this special occasion by Fabrizio Bosso on trumpet.

Tickets for the concert will be on pre-sale from March 10th at 14 pm exclusively on the ETES circuit, with online opening and at points of sale.

The concert is part of the summer festival Noisy Naples Fest, which after hosting artists of the caliber of Sting, Diana Krall, Noel Gallagher, Skunk Anansie, Massive Attack, Ludovico Einaudi and Robert Plant reaches its sixth edition this year. The date of Eduardo De Crescenzo, joins those already announced by OneRepublic (July 12), Mr Rain (July 13) and Maluma (July 16).

Essenze jazz is an exciting musical biography that reveals in a single concert all the characteristics of Eduardo's sound world: the refined interpretations of the Italian and Neapolitan chansonniers who at the beginning of the 20th century were inspired by France, the tight rhythm of the scat vocalization that he discovered in adolescence in the American clubs on the port of Naples where jazz was played in the evenings. The suggestions of the Mediterranean that inspire him from the sea or from the alleys of his city. The jazz scheme allows the melody unusual spaces, the free and ingenious improvisations arrive during the concert with poetic and masterly naturalness, extend the emotion of the singing and make the concert audience vibrate.

Eduardo De Crescenzo's music is complex, made of refined melodies and harmonies, experimental tempos and rhythms. It enchants demanding audiences educated in the reading of virtue: at the Teatro San Carlo in Naples, the temple of Opera, at the Teatro Morlacchi in Perugia, in the context of Umbria Jazz, at the Ravello Festival. Yet his magical voice, now legendary, makes it fluid and accessible even to the general public.

Eduardo, currently involved in the project “AVVENNE A NAPOLI passione per voce e piano”, together with the virtuoso pianist Julian Oliver Mazzariello, begins a historical-musical reinterpretation of the “classical Neapolitan song”, entrusts Federico Vacalebre, music critic and profound expert on the subject, with the task of analyzing the historical and social motivations that have determined the fluctuating fortunes of the repertoire, still today misunderstood as the most vulgar folklore. A project that will keep him busy for a long time, in Italy and abroad, in theaters, art institutes, conservatories. “But Essenze jazz is me” says the artist, “and I will always be there, even if diluted with other commitments”.
