The story of a young woman tortured and killed over Camorra issues is brought to life in the documentary film "Gelsomina Verde" by Massimiliano Pacifico, which will be screened at 10 a.m. at the "Galileo Ferraris" Auditorium in Scampia, Naples, on International Women's Day, March 8th. The screening will open the film festival "Le Ali Della Farfalla," curated by Monica Macchi, part of the Neap Film Festival program, directed by Sabrina Innocenti.
Also speaking will be Chiara Marciani, Councilor for Youth Policies for the City of Naples; Saverio Petitti, director of the "Ferraris" Institute; Rosario Gallone, film critic, as well as students and teachers from partner schools (the "Galileo Ferraris" Institute, the "Antonio Genovesi" High School, the "Vittorio Veneto" Institute, the "Sannino - De Cillis" Institute, the "Antonio Serra" Institute, the "JF Kennedy" Institute, and the "G. Minzoni" Institute in Giugliano).
A selection of documentaries and short films by Italian and foreign authors who, through an interdisciplinary approach and a plurality of cinematographic languages, aim to promote connections and relationships between different phenomena, events and concepts and thus contribute to the formation of a more inclusive and equitable society.
A new model of active and proactive citizenship that knows how to actively and consciously enter into social life and assert its own rights and needs within it while recognizing those of others, common opportunities, limits, rules, responsibilities.
The festival will continue on Saturday, April 1st, with a screening of the film "The Legend of the Secret Tree" by Giuseppe Carrieri, and on Saturday, April 15th, with the Palestinian short films from the Nazra festival ("The Present by Farah Nabulsi, Ambience by Wissam al Jafari, and Mariam by Dana Durr"). Teaching materials and food for thought for teachers were provided before the festival to guide the students through the films.
