Tragedy in the skies of Guidonia Montecelio, near RomeTwo pilots aboard two ultralights of the Italian Air Force – during an exercise involving four aircraft in total – died after colliding while flying over the area crossed by Via della Longarina.

The victims are Lieutenant Colonel Giuseppe Cipriano, of the 60th Wing of Guidonia and Major Marco Meneghello, of the same membership. One of the ultralights fell in a field in the middle of the countryside, outside the town, while the other, shocking images, fell on a car parked between the houses at the height of Viale Roma and Via delle Margherite.

The vehicle went up in flames and, only by a miracle, there were no other victims. On site, in addition to 118, the police and the carabinieri. The prosecutor on duty from the Tivoli prosecutor's office also arrived at the scene of the tragedy and is currently carrying out an inspection. The prosecutor's office will launch an investigation to reconstruct what happened. The aeronautical inspectorate, as they are military aircraft, will also launch investigations into what happened.

Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni expressed her condolences for the victims: "The news of the death of the two Air Force pilots in the plane crash that occurred in Guidonia, near Rome, fills us with sadness. On behalf of the Government, I express my deepest condolences and my closeness to the families, to the colleagues of the 60th Wing and to the entire Air Force. Our prayers go to them."

The military prosecutor's office in Rome has also started its initial investigations into the collision in Guidonia between the two ultralights and the death of the two pilots. In fact, a model 45 file has been opened, that is, without suspects and without hypotheses of crime, to verify any aspects of criminal and military interest. This is specified in a note.
