An enlightened English architect who lived in Naples between the end of the 800th century and the beginning of the 900th century, Lamont Young is responsible for the first, futuristic, subway project in Naples, one of the first in Europe. Starting from his mysterious suicide in the Castle of Villa Ebe in Naples, today still in ruins, the documentary, thanks to the testimonies of numerous experts, including Prof. Alessandro Castagnaro (President of ANIAI Campania), tells the spectacular projects of this English architect: various castles, a Swiss chalet and the less famous revolving house in Vivara.
An architect with a far-sighted vision, also because at the time he had focused on the city's tourist development, with the construction of the Hotel Bertolini and the design of the Hotel Monte Echia, a pharaonic neo-Indian building that was to be built on the Pizzofalcone hill.
The projects that were never realized are illustrated, visionary for the time, such as the first subway project, viewed with great suspicion at the time: a real urban plan that also included the construction of an archipelago of islands in Posillipo, the Rione Venezia and a part centered on the Bagnoli area, which would later host the former Italsider, one of the largest steel mills in Europe, whose reclamation has been proceeding slowly for decades.
Young instead at the end of the 800th century had identified Bagnoli as an ideal point for tourist and cultural development, designing the terminus of his subway there, where seaside resorts, large hotels, public parks and a palace for international exhibitions were to be built, which would have given the Neapolitans who could not travel the opportunity to discover other cultures. A character born more than 170 years ago, but linked to incredibly current themes: sustainability, ecology and culture.
Author of numerous patents, including a flying machine, the documentary also tells of his passion for inventions. The personal life of this genius is explored in depth, managing in an exclusive way and for the first time to solve some mysteries, especially about his death.
