As the hours pass, new confirmations emerge about the launch of the iPhone SE 4, the latest rumors about the low-cost smartphone that Apple should launch in 2024 are dampening initial enthusiasm a bit, due to some leaked specifications.

According to SiliconSong on Twitter, Apple has chosen a non-latest-generation chipset for the iPhone SE 4, probably to keep costs down. Specifically, despite the rumored changes in terms of aesthetics and specifications, the smartphone should sport the A15 Bionic, the same one present on the iPhone SE 3 with a 4-core GPU.

It will therefore not be the same processor found on the iPhone 13 Pro and Pro Max, and on the iPhone 14 and 14 Plus, which features a 5-core GPU. The reason, as we said above, could be linked to the need to contain the price of the smartphone, but there is no shortage of positive aspects.

Similar to what should happen with the iPhone 15, in fact, the iPhone SE 4 should also integrate a USB-C port. There has also been recent talk of MFI certification for the iPhone 15's USB-C accessories, which could force users to still purchase certified accessories, albeit third-party ones, to fully enjoy the charging and data transfer speeds.
