"There's definitely someone who wants to keep this story low-key. It's been talked about too little, and we think that's because the actors behind it are important and inconvenient."

This is the complaint of Anna Maria Motta, mother of Mario Paciolla, the Neapolitan aid worker found dead in his home in Colombia, in July 2020, for reasons yet to be ascertained.

Mrs. Motta and her husband, Giuseppe Paciolla, participated in the initiative organized by the Articolo21 association and the Campania Journalists' Union on the occasion of National Care Day.

During the meeting, Mario's parents once again called for clarity and justice for what happened in San Vicente del Cagua'n, above all to restore "honor and dignity to this boy."

This demand is even more pressing now, following the request for the case to be closed by the Rome Prosecutor's Office, amid protests from family members.

The parents do not explicitly refer to the alleged responsibilities of the UN, for which Mario was working in Colombia, but they underline the difficulty of maintaining high attention on the case, "probably because there are inconvenient actors behind it."

In this sense, the initiatives planned for the coming days can help keep the lights on. The first is scheduled for March 7th, when a classroom at the Orientale University headquarters will be named after Mario.

On March 28, the day the aid worker would have turned 36, the mural created by street artist Jorit outside the Elio Vittorini high school in Naples will be unveiled.

"In addition to our legal work, we want to create a social memorial for Mario," says his mother. "We want people to know how the events unfolded and join us in seeking the truth. It's impossible for such a complex case to be resolved in just a few months."
