Good news for transportation in Naples ahead of the Easter holidays and the influx of tourists. Metro Line 1 has received the green light for a second new train, allowing it to run every 10 minutes.
The last technical tests, which took place during the night, on the convoy purchased by the Municipality of Napoli from the Spanish company Caf.
The signature on the delivery report should also arrive today, after which the train will have to do pre-exercise, that is, travel with ballast on the tracks for approximately 5 kilometres, before entering actual service for the public.
According to forecasts, thanks to the arrival of the new train, the frequency of the trips will drop to 10 and a half minutes.
Councilor Cosenza: “Now buses run every 10 minutes”
The good news was given by the Councillor for Public Transport, Edoardo Cosenza: “An important night – he wrote on his Facebook profile – The ATP (Automatic Train Protection) tests of the second new train on Line 1 were successfully completed. Crucial tests for safety. A few days to get the Technical Clearance and then pre-operation will begin. With the second new train, the frequency will drop to 10,5 minutes. And the third train is already ready for testing”.
