In the last few hours, a meeting was held at the Ministry of Culture between Minister Sangiuliano, the managers of the Metropolitan cinema in Naples , which is at risk of eviction, and representatives of Banca Intesa San Paolo (formerly Banco di Napoli), the owner of the building, which is looking for new tenants to increase revenue by replacing the historic cinema with a bingo hall, a restaurant, a garage or a shopping centre.

The meeting concluded with the minister's decision to place a restriction on the Metropolitan. We believe this is an absolutely correct and acceptable move. The Bank has announced its intention to sell the property. We must do everything we can to save one of the last remaining cultural institutions, which are not only symbolic but also have an educational impact.

Today more than ever we need more culture and less consumerism to save our identity. For this reason the mobilization is confirmed for Sunday 12 March, at 10.30:XNUMX am, at the entrance of the Metropolitan.” – these are the words of the deputy of the Verdi Sinistra alliance deputy Francesco Emilio Borrelli and the host of La Radiazza Gianni Simioli.
