The checks by the Tourist Police Unit of the Naples Municipal Police continue, aimed at preventing and repressing irregularities and illegal activity on non-scheduled public transport and non-hotel accommodation facilities.
During the month of February, checks were concentrated at the railway and airport terminals, Molo Beverello, the historic city centre and the waterfront area. Checks were carried out on 597 vehicles, with 44 fines issued to taxis and NCCs, for violations of the Highway Code and the Public Course Regulations.
Among the violations of the sector regulations, the most notable ones are fines for failure to issue a receipt to passengers for municipal fare routes, failure to display the fare list inside the vehicle, requesting the customer to pay amounts higher than those applicable or different from those on the taximeter, operating a taxi outside of their shift and 15 fines against NCCs, some operating with irregular authorisations or documents and others using vehicles registered for their own use for public transport.
In the same period, monitoring of accommodation activities has produced investigations and sanctions for 10 bed and breakfasts, holiday homes and B&B owners. Among the violations detected: operating without authorization or Scia; failure to register on the tourist-tax portal to pay the tourist tax; exceeding the number of guests or failure to communicate their names to the Public Security authority.
Irregularities in the display of mandatory price lists and tables. Finally, in proximity to the main monuments and tourist sites of the city, checks and environmental observation were carried out for the regular professional exercise of the activities of guide and escort.
