Luca Lupoli's essay “Mario Persico and his operatic production” was delivered to the Library of the San Pietro a Majella Conservatory in Naples, in one of the oldest institutions in the world, founded by Saverio Mattei in 1791, ancestor of the Neapolitan composer.
The text written by Luca Lupoli, for Aletheia Editore, features a preface by tenor Fabio Armiliato, and was also created with the meticulous collection of bibliographical sources and research by soprano Olga De Maio.
A memorable day on March 2, 2023 for opera singers, whose names will remain forever in the history of music in one of the oldest and most important libraries in the world.
An added piece of 900th century music is represented by the essay included in the catalogue of texts of the Library of the Conservatory of Naples.
The heartfelt gratitude went warmly from the opera singers to the Director M° Carmine Santaniello, to Dr. Tiziana Grande, Head of the Library, to M° Carlo Mormile, Teacher and Director of the Children's Choir.
The opera singers, honored to have returned to the Conservatory of San Pietro a Majella, where they received the request to include in the Library Catalogue, their latest book on Mario Persico, shared in the very same place where they studied, a great gratification. And yet in the same Institution where the composer Mario Persico previously studied, with whom they felt in communion for a day, beyond the distances of time in the same space that welcomed them.
The book has already been presented at the Pan in Naples, at the Stanze della Musica in Rome, at the Teatro Bellini in Naples, and will soon be presented at the State Archives in Naples, then at the IV Edition of Naples City Book 2023 at the Maritime Station in Naples and in Milan.
“Mario Persico and his operatic production”, which represents the rediscovery of a little-known or almost forgotten composer who, with his works, testifies to the synthesis between the tradition of the Neapolitan musical school of the 700th century and the innovations of the operatic genres of the 900th century, returns to memory in our days thanks to the will of Tenor Luca Lupoli who, at the time of his degree thesis, had known him as an author to study.
