Ten new pedestrian crossings will be installed on Via Francesco Caracciolo (near Aliscafi; near Via Galiani; near Acquario), Piazza Sannazaro – Via Sannazaro (near the traffic-lighted pedestrian crossing), Viale Anton Dohrn (near the red chalet – Diaz roundabout), Corso Amedeo di Savoia (near house number 226; near house number 182), Via Santa Teresa degli Scalzi (near Ponte della Sanità), and Corso Malta (near Via Fiume; near house number 72).
It was established at the end of a session of the permanent conference in the prefecture of NAPLES, during which, with the Municipality, the topic of road safety was addressed and the process aimed at the technical verification for the installation of pedestrian crossings was concluded. "In synergy with the prefecture - explained the mayor of NAPLES Gaetano Manfredi - the administration has worked to activate in the shortest time possible the technical solutions that will reduce the risk of accidents on the most dangerous roads. An institutional and moral duty towards those who have been victims and their families, and in general to protect the citizens.
The municipal police make great efforts every day, I also appeal to the conscience of those who drive: let's respect the rules, let's not destroy lives". For other city streets that have recorded a high risk rate (via Nuova Bagnoli, via Diocleziano, via Montagna Spaccata, via Arenaccia, piazza Poderico, corso Novara, via Francesco Petrarca and via Miano), the permanent commission, in collaboration with the municipal administration, has ordered the installation of a series of raised pedestrian crossings to facilitate crossing and, at the same time, slow down the speed of motorists.
The interventions approved today "will allow speed limits to be respected in a particularly effective way and to guarantee crossings in complete safety", the Municipality explains. The work carried out is part of a series of actions that have seen the involvement of the main services and competent bodies in the matter, the police force, the NAPLES fire brigade, 118 and Anm, "in order to identify decisive and shared measures to avoid the risk of accidents and, at the same time, not compromise the functionality of rescue vehicles, emergency vehicles, police forces and public transport".
