A 45-year-old man was arrested in Naples by the Carabinieri as part of an investigation by the Bari Prosecutor's Office into three incidents of fraud committed against elderly women in Acquaviva delle Fonti.
The man was placed under house arrest, the order from the preliminary investigations judge of the Bari Court being executed by officers from the Naples Poggioreale station. According to the prosecution, the suspect committed serial acts against elderly and vulnerable victims, following a carefully crafted pattern of deception and deception, along with an accomplice yet to be identified.

According to the reconstruction, the suspect contacted the chosen victims by telephone, introducing himself as a Carabinieri marshal or a lawyer, and made them believe that their children had been involved in road accidents and that this was an urgent request for sums of money for legal fees.
One of the two scammers then showed up at the elderly ladies' homes to withdraw their money or even jewelry. The alleged incidents are three, occurring in March and April 2022, within a few days of each other. They netted a profit of €13.
