He was on a charter flight, among Georgian supporters of Napoli footballer Khvicha Kvaratskheila arrived in the city to watch the Napoli-Lazio match. But in reality he was wanted for having attempted to kill two Greek citizens.
Narimanidze Irakli, a 38-year-old Georgian, was arrested by the Capodichino Air Border Police Office, pursuant to a European Arrest Warrant. He had been sentenced to 2012 years in prison for attempted murder by a sentence enforceable by the Greek judicial authorities in October 10.
The man was identified as part of preventive operations carried out by the Air Border Police to combat illegal immigration on the flight from Tbilisi to Capodichino Airport. The operation was conducted in close collaboration with the International Police Cooperation Service in Rome and its Greek counterpart. The Georgian citizen had obtained his passport the day before his arrival in Naples.
