Tetro Area Nord, 4 and 5 March on stage 'Ex-esplodano gliattore' by Gabriel Calderon directed by Emanuele Valenti

On Saturday 4 March at 19.00:5 pm and Sunday 18.00 March at 2023:XNUMX pm, as part of the #ConfiniAperti XNUMX season, “EX -ESPLODANO GLI ATTORI” by Gabriel Calderón, directed by Emanuele Valenti, will be performed at the Teatro Area Nord.

The play debuted last week at the Teatro Metastasio in Prato, which is also the show's producer with the support of Teatri Associati di Napoli / Teatro Area Nord.

On stage actors Monica Demuru, Christian Giroso, Lisa Imperatore, Marcello Manzella, Daniela Piperno, Lello Serao and Emanuele Valenti. “Ex – esplodano gliattore” is the story of a girl who wants to understand what led her family members to hate each other and not speak to each other for years.

As if it were a gift, a quantum physics experiment, everyone finds themselves gathered at home on Christmas Eve. As the story progresses, the dinner becomes increasingly improbable and tragicomic: the present gives way to scenes set in the past from which a family story emerges that must deal with the consequences of the political history of their country.

The author says that the idea for the text was born from questioning the answers that former Uruguayan president Pepe Mujica gave when asked how it would be possible to overcome the social conflict that followed the dictatorship. Mujica responded that perhaps the only solution was for all the actors in the story to die, or more precisely, to explode. Hence the question: is man not intelligent enough and ready enough to solve things when his protagonists are still alive? And, can time really heal wounds?

“Even though it starts from the story of a family marked by a dictatorship and from the analysis of a collective trauma – declares the director Emanuele Valenti – this text can actually tell us about any family and the attempt to put the pieces back together, placing itself, therefore, on an absolutely universal ground. This is one of the things that struck me most when I read it. On the one hand, therefore, the arrogance of History, on the other, the possibility of telling the story of a family like many others that cannot exist without repressed memories, accusations, guilt to be processed and freed from. Calderon's words do not offer a way out, they put you against the wall. And so the work of staging was born. A room, two doors, an experiment, a family reunion and a girl who wants to know; who has a need and a pain in her chest; who wants to hear words never said; words that explain; words that can help her.”
