"Not having the Democratic Party in this election is not good news. I hope they reform the structure, as it is an important force in this city." So said Lello Russo, mayoral candidate for the reformist wing of Pomigliano d'Arco (Naples), who leads a coalition of 11 lists, including the Socialists, but also a civic list that includes dissidents from the local Democratic Party, and the Democratic Party city secretary and former deputy mayor, Eduardo Riccio, who submitted his resignation just hours before the mass resignation of the 13 city councilors that last February decreed the dissolution of the Civic Assembly.
Among the supporting lists, moreover, the civic Oblò in which Salvatore Esposito, former councilor for Social Policies in the dissolved municipal administration, and friend of the former minister Luigi Di Maio, has joined. "I wish the other candidates, Vito Fiacco and Marco Iasevoli, a fair and serious debate for the good of our beloved city", added Russo.
"And if the Greens were able to present the list, also to their candidate. I'm sorry that the PD is not in the running, I hope for its return to the field as an important force in our city. Not having it in this election is not good news". Russo, 83, a former socialist senator, was mayor of Pomigliano d'Arco six times, for a total of 25 years of leadership of the city.
