From Cavazzano to Jim Lee, exhibitions invade Naples

Comicon starts on April 28th and runs until May XNUMXst.

From “I mondi elastici” by Giorgio Cavazzano to the vision of Italy by American cartoonist Jim Lee with “The Italian way”; from the illustrations of Aldo Di Gennaro to the works of Luca Boschi, “Tightrope walker of comic book publishing”.

Like every year, Comicon – the great comics festival that will open its doors on April 28th in Naples, until May XNUMXst – has many exhibitions scheduled: there will be sixteen exhibition itineraries that can be visited at the Mostra d'Oltremare and in numerous other locations distributed throughout the Neapolitan territory thanks to the Comic(on) off festival.

Among the other exhibitions are those of Simone Bianchi (La musica dei corpi) and Brecht Vandenbroucke (Shady stories), while the Comicon Lifetime Achievement Award goes to Aldo Di Gennaro, a cartoonist and illustrator known, among others, for his work with Corriere dei Piccoli and Corriere dei Ragazzi, the periodicals of the Rizzoli group and with Sergio Bonelli Editore. Di Gennaro himself will be the protagonist of an exhibition that will pay homage to his over sixty years of work.

During Comicon, among the exhibitions, the one by Giorgio Cavazzano stands out, a master of European humorous drawing and a legendary signature of international Disney comics, who has marked generations of readers by accompanying them through the most diverse worlds and genres, interpreting with his peculiar elastic style characters such as Mickey Mouse and Uncle Scrooge, Spider-Man and Corto Maltese. But also iconic brands of Italian history such as Cucciolone, Kinder Sorpresa and Burghy, or the creations of Federico Fellini, Mina, Alessandro Baricco, Aki Kaurismaki, Bonvi, Alan Moore, Milton Caniff, Carl Barks.

From the USA come the works of Jim Lee who in “The Italian Way” shows his special relationship with Italy, a bond born at Comicon 2003: Lee was a guest of the edition and began a long residency in our country, during which he matured many creative experiences that represented a turning point and culminated with the creation of Batman: Europa.
