A busy schedule at the Teatro dei Piccoli in Naples, with performances starting on Friday, April 14th at 7:30 PM and on the mornings of Saturday, April 15th and Sunday, April 16th at 11 AM.
The review curated by Casa del Contemporaneo/Le Nuvole, I Teatrini and Progetto Sonora, created in agreement with the Municipality of Naples and the management of the Mostra d'Oltremare, will end at the end of April before starting again in the “open air” version from June in the theatrical spaces set up in the pine forest.
This Friday, April 14th, the special evening of English-language theater returns, beginning at 7:30 pm: the Anglo-Saxon company The Play Group stages its very own version of DRACULA (8+), a free adaptation of Bram Stoker's original. "DRACULA is undoubtedly the most famous horror story in the world, and our production, as is tradition, is extremely interactive with surprising twists of typical English humor," said performers Eddie Roberts, Simon Edmonds, and Francesco Di Gennaro in a statement. "We are particularly fond of this show, the last one directed by our friend Enzo Musicò, who recently passed away, and who always directed us with irony and great skill. This evening will also be a tribute to him, from all those who loved him."
The event continues with MUSIC BY PLAYING on the morning of Saturday, April 15th at 11:00 a.m. This interactive concert, accompanied by adults, will allow even the youngest children (ages 3 and up) to explore sound, using small Orff percussion instruments alongside musicians from the Sonora Ensemble, and immerse themselves in live music right on stage. "The freedom of movement guaranteed to children on stage is crucial," says Maestro Eugenio Ottieri, "to allow them to follow the music with their bodies. This is complemented by the reassuring presence of adults who join them in the rhythmic and vocal activities, encouraging a delightful immersion in sound. This helps develop a musical sensitivity tailored to the needs and listening abilities of young children, and is inspired by the scientific theories of EEGordon."
Sunday 16 April at 11 am the stage is all for ESTERINA CENTOVESTITI. An extraordinary story – winner of the Eolo Award 2022 for Best Show – written and performed by Daria Paoletta of the Burambò company, to tell the audience (6+) that “what appears sometimes is not how it really is, you just have to live, enjoying everything that life gives us, without prejudice”. In class, Lucia is dealing with the arrival of a new classmate: Esterina has a large body, ruined hands, speaks strangely, has the collar of her apron always wrinkled and always wears the same trousers. “To redeem her diversity and her origins from a poor family, Esterina will invent that she has 100 dresses: a way to save herself through imagination” – says Paoletta herself. The viewing of the show is combined with the taraxe board game to build short narratives and guess the mysterious card of emotions. Also repeated on Monday 17 April at 9.30 am for primary and secondary schools.
