Two thousand euros to persuade a city councilor to vote for the "Grande Napoli" list in the elections for councilors of the Metropolitan City of Naples.
This is what was charged to Emilio Rostan, a businessman arrested today as part of the investigation into the interference of the Camorra in the municipal administration of Melito. According to the reconstruction of the investigations coordinated by the Naples Prosecutor's Office and culminating in the order with which the investigating judge ordered precautionary measures for 18 suspects, Rostan allegedly delivered 2 thousand euros to Massimiliano Grande, opposition municipal councilor in Melito, group leader of "Davvero Ecologia e diritti", in order to induce him to vote for the "Grande Napoli" list in the second-degree elections for the Metropolitan Council of Naples, a vote to which only the mayors and municipal councilors of Naples and the province are called.
In the elections of March 13, 2022, the ordinance states, Emilio Rostan promoted the “Grande Napoli” list; according to what emerged from a wiretap, Grande would have received the first 1.000 euros to affix the necessary signature to present the candidacies, the other 1.000 euros for his vote.
Bank checks later revealed that Rostan, who has two current accounts at his disposal, issued a bank check for 1.000 euros on February 21, 2022, which investigators believe to be linked to the deadline by which lists for the election of the Metropolitan City Council had to be submitted, and a second check, also for 1.000 euros, on March 16, 2022, three days after the elections, which "allows us to affirm that the agreement was respected," the order states.
Judge Isabella Iaselli, deputy president of the investigating judge section of the Naples Tribunal, ordered Rostan to be held in prison and Grande to be placed under house arrest.
