Contribute to the environmental regeneration of the area, protecting its biodiversity and enhancing its natural beauty. With these objectives in mind, a major reforestation project was carried out in the Campania region, supported by La Doria, a leading international canning group based in Angri, which resulted in the planting of 1000 trees.
The project is part of Mosaico Verde, the national campaign for the forestation of urban and extra-urban areas and protection of woods conceived and promoted by AzzeroCO2 and Legambiente. The intervention was carried out in three different areas of Sant'Antonio Abate, a municipality located in the Sarno plain, on the slopes of Mount Lettere, with the aim of making them more accessible to citizens and contributing to a greater healthiness of the area.
The first and largest area of intervention is located in via Lettere inside the Natural Park. In this place, after cleaning and restoring existing plants and hedges, about 700 plants were placed, including oleanders, rosemary and olive trees, particularly suited to the climatic and naturalistic conditions of the area, to increase the tree coverage of the park and thus create new shaded areas that, in addition to mitigating the heat island effect, will allow citizens to make the most of this green space.
The new plants have also taken root in the garden of the IACP residential complex on Via del Duca and in that of the S. Antonio Abate Primary School on Via Cesano, where they will benefit the children who attend the school. " Participation in the Green Mosaic campaign ," stated the Mayor of Sant'Antonio Abate, Ilaria Abagnale, " has allowed our Administration to agree on a series of actions that will allow the town to benefit from urban redevelopment projects with the goal of creating a natural living center in every neighborhood."
This project will bring numerous benefits to the area, starting with the renaturalization of the area and contributing to the reduction of climate-altering emissions: trees are natural "air purifiers" that absorb and filter numerous pollutants. Antonio Ferraioli, CEO of La Doria, explains that "for years, our Group has been committed to the belief that doing business means operating with respect for the planet and people.
We are aware of our responsibility, which is why we have joined the national "Green Mosaic" campaign, through which we are committed to planting trees to redevelop the area in which we operate . "The planting of new trees ," said Sandro Scollato, CEO of AzzeroCO2, " in addition to bringing environmental benefits and creating habitats that will increase the area's biodiversity, it will also improve the quality of life of residents by allowing them to benefit from regenerated green spaces."
