The match between Napoli and Salernitana , which could deliver the Azzurri their third Scudetto after 33 years, will be postponed to Sunday 30 April, at 15 pm, for "security reasons" . This was revealed by Claudio Palomba , Prefect of Naples , during the press conference held today.
The Prefect: “Napoli Salernitana Sunday at 15pm”
"This is a complex period for Naples , with a series of events in the Fuorigrotta area ," the Prefect said. " So we proposed considering moving the match from Saturday to Sunday.
Setting the time, however, is not our responsibility, but it seems that the League has brought it forward to 15pm.
“We're waiting for the official announcement, but I'm also saying this in light of the opinion given a few hours ago by the CASMS ,” Palomba continues. “ These will be hectic days, and keeping the match on Saturday would have meant doubling the resources over the entire weekend. So on Sunday morning, Inter will play Lazio , followed probably by Napoli-Salernitana .”
The prefect then also discussed measures for the possible championship celebration: “We will close some entrances to organize a large pedestrian area.
There is also a health plan, a plan for the protection of monuments and the city. It is an event that we have been waiting for for 33 years, we have worked in full harmony with De Laurentiis and there has been full agreement on everything".
"We're expecting hundreds of thousands of people, but we're only going to ask for reinforcements on Sunday ," he continued. " Tomorrow the Police Commissioner will have a technical meeting, and we'll formalize a specific request."
We are also working on the celebrations for June 4th, everything will be defined soon”.
Mayor Manfredi: “Here are all the measures for the celebration”
Mayor Manfredi also spoke during the conference : “Regarding the match between Napoli and Salernitana, we have reached the conclusion we hoped for, in order to ensure better management of resources, both in terms of transport and safety during what will be a busy weekend, between Comicon and the basketball match .”
"An extraordinary deployment of forces is planned in the city, and it had to be balanced ," the mayor continued. "We hope this will happen on Sunday, but if not, the prepared police and law enforcement deployment can be replicated on other days as well."
Manfredi also spoke about the measures in the city: "In the historic center, the celebrations will be on foot and without cars and motorcycles. There will be a large pedestrian area starting at 12 noon on Sunday and, if necessary, until 4 a.m. between Sunday and Monday. There will also be a guard at some monuments to ensure they are not damaged."
“On Sunday we will have about 300 or 400 firefighters plus support staff.
Transport will be open until midnight with stations monitored to avoid chaos at the entrance with pre-filtering and maximum security. There will also be a monitor at Largo Maradona”.
ADL: “We celebrate safely and only at Maradona”
A word from Napoli owner Aurelio De Laurentiis : “I am extremely satisfied, prevention is better than cure.
This is a city that loves to celebrate, but it will be done safely. We are waiting for instructions from the League and the Ministry of the Interior, the time does not depend on us".
“Sunday and Monday will be two days full of events and we want to avoid Napoli Calcio adding to the chaos.
The celebrations must begin and end at Maradona . We demonstrate that in Naples you can live in beauty and tranquility, as has been demonstrated for centuries."
