The 50-year-old patient from the hospital is not affected by avian flu Scafati, in the province of Salerno, and currently hospitalized at the 'Monaldi' hospital in Naples. This was specified by the Colli Company in a medical bulletin released this morning.

The patient is in extracorporeal circulation and has a positive swab for H1N1 influenza, i.e. a strain of influenza already present and widespread. “Preliminary blood tests, however, revealed significant immunosuppression (lack of IgG and IgM antibodies) for which further investigations are underway,” the bulletin continues.

"The patient's particular immunosuppression condition has, therefore, contributed to the severity of the clinical picture. The clinical conditions - the bulletin concluded - remain severe and the prognosis, at the moment, is reserved".
