A tragedy was narrowly avoided at lunchtime in the Posillipo area, a hilltop neighborhood of Naples . About an hour ago, Carabinieri from the Posillipo station responded to a sinkhole on Via Comola Ricci that opened during the recent heavy rains.
Inside there was a TwingoInside the car, stuck, was a 87enne. The water had risen up to his legs. The Carabinieri extracted him from the cockpit and he is now fine.
The area has been secured by firefighters.
The elderly man was taken to the hospital for treatment. His condition is not concerning; he's just very frightened. His family has also been notified.
Comola Ricci Park and Posillipo aren't the only areas affected by flooding. Numerous calls for assistance were received from other parts of the city, including from several municipalities in the province that were particularly affected by the floodwaters.
