THE FINAL IN SANTA MARGHERITA LIGURE ON JULY 8TH
The deadline for the competition for the 19th edition of the Bindi Prize of Santa Margherita Ligure (Genoa) is approaching, set for 1 May 2023.
The Award is named after Umberto Bindi, a Genoese singer-songwriter of great refinement, author of songs such as Arrivederci, Il nostro concerto, Il mio mondo, La musica è finita, Io e il mare, who passed away in 2002.
The competition announcement, which is available on www.premiobindi.com, is reserved for individuals or bands who compose their own songs. Registration is free and must be made no later than May 1, 2023 exclusively through the form on the website www.premiobindi.com in the appropriate section.
From all the registered participants, an internal committee within the organization will select the finalists (maximum eight) who will compete in front of a prestigious jury composed of musicians, journalists and professionals.
The final is scheduled for July 8, 2023. The finalists will have to perform four songs: three of their own and a cover of Umberto Bindi chosen in agreement with the artistic direction of the Award.
The contest will be held during a three-day event scheduled for July 7-9, which will also host performances by established artists, meetings and presentations of records and books. Among others, Lucio Battisti and Giorgio Gaber will be remembered, whose death anniversaries are this year.
The overall winner will receive the Bindi Award Plaque and a cash scholarship, but among the finalists, the “Giorgio Calabrese” Plaque will also be awarded to the best author, the “Best Song” Plaque, chosen based on radio standards, and the “Beppe Quirici” Plaque to the best arrangement.
The Bindi Award is one of the most important Italian competitions dedicated to the singer-songwriter. It is organized by the Le Muse Novae Association and has the artistic direction of Zibba. It is supported by the contribution of the Municipality of Santa Margherita Ligure, the Liguria Region and Nuovo IMAIE.
