The power of attorney of Torre Annunziata has entered five people in the register of suspects, with the hypothesis of manslaughter, in the investigation into the death of Giovanni, the eight-year-old child after a malore warned in the his school gym, in Sant'Antonio Abate.
This is, the investigators underline, an act required to allow the appointment of expert witnesses in view ofautopsy of the victim. According to what Il Mattino and the Neapolitan edition of Repubblica reported today, the attention of the prosecutor's office has focused, for different reasons, on a pediatrician and four members of the school staff.
The first one would have visited the child recently, without finding any signs of ahypothetical cardiac dysfunction or malformation; school staff should instead clarify the reasons for the failure to use the child's defibrillator which the institute has, but which has not been used, it is not clear whether because it is broken or due to a lack of operators who know how to use it.
After the illness, last Monday, the little boy was immediately subjected to long cardiac massages in an attempt to revive him, and then taken to hospital where he died: theautopsy will have to ascertain whether the failure to use the defibrillator may have compromised the outcome of subsequent rescue operations.
