A 41 year old man, Luigi Serrao, originally from Maddaloni lost his life this morning in a road accident that occurred along the state road 67 Tosco Romagnola near Montelupo Fiorentino. The victim was traveling on a motorcycle that, according to reconstruction, collided with a car at an intersection.
The driver of the car, a 48-year-old, was also injured and taken to the emergency room in Empoli for checks. The Pegaso helicopter rescue service also landed on the scene after the arrival of two 118 ambulances, but all attempts by the paramedics were unsuccessful in saving the man's life.
The road has been closed to traffic since about 9 this morning also to allow the municipal police to carry out surveys. The body has been transferred to the Institute of Forensic Medicine in Florence, at the disposal of the magistrate on duty.

The tragedy was also commented on Facebook by the mayor of Montelupo Paolo Masetti: "It leaves you breathless to see a person lying lifeless on the ground – he wrote on the social network – there are few words other than a big hug to his family and to those who knew him".
