A mural dedicated to journalist Giancarlo Siani was unveiled this morning at the social center on Via Guido Vestuti in Salerno.
The work entitled “Giornalista Giornalista” - created by the writer Stefano Santoro, aka McNenya, with the collaboration of Giuseppe De Martino, aka Amed - was presented on the occasion of the Day of Remembrance for journalists killed by mafia crime and terrorism.
Among others, Gianmario Siani, Giancarlo's nephew, Ottavio Lucarelli, journalist and member of the Scientific Committee of the Polis Foundation, Carlo Noviello, president of "Il Villaggio di Esteban", a social cooperative that publishes Paperboy, Umberto Adinolfi, director of Paperboy and Radio Salerno Village were also present.
"We celebrate Siani, " said Salerno Mayor Vincenzo Napoli, " to honor the many journalists who have died on the job. It was a catastrophe. Just think of what happened in Ukraine. Freedom of the press is a sign of democracy and progress.
It is significant that the mural was placed in the community center. This is also an indication of participation. Siani was and is an example for everyone. His death was a tragedy."
