Sunday 28 May, on the occasion of the beginning of the solemn celebrations for the 900th anniversary of the Montevergine Abbey, free rides to reach the Sanctuary.

And on the occasion of Sunday's event, the technicians of the regional public transport company coordinated by the director of the Funicular, engineer Carmine Alvino, at the end of the public order committee, defined in detail all the services for the opening day of the IX Centenary of the foundation of the Abbey.
Funicular timetables
Sunday 28 May the Funicular will be open from 8 to 19 (last ride). It will make 42 trips (round trip) departing every 30 minutes.
After 19pm and until the end of the event, the shuttle will be in service, departing from Montevergine and arriving in Mercogliano.
Free rides from 8 to 14
AIR Campania will make free rides from 8 to 14 on the occasion of the opening ceremony of the Verginiano Year in the presence of the Pontifical Legate, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, who after the delivery of honorary citizenship by the Municipality of Mercogliano will preside over the Eucharistic celebration.
After 14 pm, the cost of the Funicular ticket includes a discounted rate of 5 euros for a return ticket. At the end of the concert by Enzo Avitabile, users, by exhibiting the title, will be able to take advantage of the shuttle service to return to Mercogliano.
Ospedaletto-Montevergine shuttle
AIR Campania has enhanced the services for transfers to Montevergine by providing buses departing from the stop in Piazza Partenio, in Ospedaletto d'Alpinolo, with free return journeys from 8 to 14 (last journey).
Funicular car park
As established at the table of the committee for public order and safety, the rest area in front of the departure station of Mercogliano will be used to guard the forces of order; therefore, it will remain closed to the public until the early hours of the afternoon. Users will be able to use the parking spaces defined by the parking plan of the Municipality of Mercogliano.
The photographic exhibition
On the occasion of the opening day of the events of the 900 years of the Sanctuary, AIR Campania will set up a photographic exhibition in the waiting room of the Mercogliano station, which traces the history of the Funicular: the laying of the rails, the installation of the first hauling rope and the evolution of carriages from the 50s to the 80s.
