The body of the 45-year-old farmer who died in Contrada in the province of Avellino: he was going to the mountains when he was surprised by the water bomb that mainly affected the municipalities of Forino and Montoro.
The man was in a rather impervious area when, in an attempt to anchor the car to the ground, he got out in search of a support to put under the wheels. At that point he would have been hit by the car due to the failure of the handbrake.
The police rushed to the scene – they will verify the dynamics of the facts – and the mayor of Contrada, Pasquale De Santis: "It is a tragedy in a territory that is not new to these phenomena and that is characterized by its fragility. We are waiting for the arrival of the coroner for the identification. Forino - continues the mayor - is flooded, in Contrada it is slightly better but here too a lot of water has fallen. It was only twenty minutes of rain preceded by a strong hailstorm but of exceptional power".
In Forino, as in Montoro, another municipality in the area south of Avellino affected by the precipitation, the regional Civil Protection teams are arriving. The Avellino firefighters are also in action.
