After twelve years, after the sentences of 2 years and 8 months arrived at in the first instance and on appeal, the Court of Appeal of Naples has acquitted Vincent De Liguori, former footballer of Juve Stabia, Paganese, Casertana and Nocerina, arrested in 2011 on charges of drug trafficking drug.
The footballer, together with Claudio Risi, at the time a player for Casertana, had ended up in the net of wiretaps for having contacted Guido Bruno, from Isola Liri, who had already been wiretapped in the context of investigations related to drug dealing. For both footballers the accusation was of having “dealt with 2 thousand doses of synthetic drugs” for “a business of 5.300 euros”.
But De Liguori, as was demonstrated during the trial, was not found in possession of drugs. The only accusations came from wiretaps. However, the phone calls between the players led investigators to believe that the drug dealing movements organized by the two were different.
The investigation, called “Ultima Dose”, revolved around an alleged drug ring: ecstasy, cocaine and heroin with a drug dealing center in Castelvolturno. Here, the traffic was allegedly managed by African traffickers, where the couriers were supplied to sell it at retail on the market of lower Lazio and Campania.
